Pet Portraits

Gary has a long and pleasurable history drawing animals, mostly portraits of people’s pets.  Working on commission mostly, he obtains favorite photos from animal lovers and slowly develops the creature’s personality. With dogs, he starts mostly with the nose and eyes, which are revelatory and particular to each animal. Sometimes the drawings are a combination of pen and ink and pastels. He’s done over 1,000 commissions in the last 10 years.
