Weight loss

Suddenly at this age
I am looking forward to suffering
And choosing to call it Happiness
I’ll call it nirvana
When the bones under my left foot
Rub against each other
I’ll call the burning the worry
The jarring surprise Success
And I’ll keep walking another half-mile
I’ll call it delight while fasting
In the late morning
In the late afternoon
Those times when sadness
Makes you hungrier
Hunger makes you more sad
I’ll call the yearning Tremendous
And later when I’m desolate
Because I’ve lost weight
It’s gone for now and it’s changed nothing
Still close to tears
And missing something that really
I never had
Tears that never come
I’ll call it a Poem
And feel both lighter and completely full.
